Chilamate Trail
The journey begins in the morning from the association's tourist accommodation, heading towards the mountain along an interpretative trail.
Local guides will explain how the presence of the Santa María, Santiaguito, and Chicabal volcanoes contributed to the formation of this marvelous place.
Along the route, you will experience the beauty of the cloud forest and its aerial trees and plants. Halfway through the trail, you will be treated to a stunning waterfall called El Chilamate, named after a medicinal tree found just above the waterfall. Further along, you will enjoy views of Guatemala's Pacific coast and to the east, the Santiaguito and Santa María volcanoes.

Aventura Ocós Trail
Designed for those who enjoy long hikes through nature.
The journey begins in the morning from the association’s accommodation, descending down the mountain towards the Ocós River.
Along the way, you will pass coffee plantations, stunning volcanic and mountainous landscapes, and the cloud forest. Upon reaching the river, the adventure continues with a walk along the river, visiting three majestic waterfalls (the tallest of which is approximately 70 meters high) and a pool where you can take a refreshing dip.

Loma Linda to Laguna Chicabal
This tour is designed for those who are passionate about extreme hikes. The hike can last approximately 6 to 8 hours, depending on the pace of the group.
The adventure begins in the morning from the Loma Linda tourist accommodation, heading towards Laguna Chicabal. Half of the route is within the Loma Linda private natural reserve, and the other part is through the San Martín Chile Verde forest. Along the way, you’ll witness the great biological diversity of the area's virgin cloud forest, including endangered species of fauna and flora.
You’ll also encounter different environments and panoramic views, leading to the entrance of the Chicabal Volcano (Laguna Seca), where the ascent to Laguna Chicabal begins. This tour includes 2 local guides for groups of 5 people and entry to Laguna Chicabal.

Birdwatching
Discover the different bird species native to the cloud forest, including several endangered species like the Quetzal, Tangara Cabanisi, among others.
The hike starts early in the morning, leaving the association’s accommodation, as this is when the birds leave their nests and are most active.
During the walk towards the mountain, you’ll experience various environments such as cultivated plots, guamiles (local forests), and virgin cloud forests, all home to a variety of bird species.
In addition to birdwatching, there is also the chance to spot mammals, as well as enjoy panoramic views of the Santa María and Santiaguito volcanoes and the Pacific coast of Guatemala.

Join us and leave your mark on nature!
We invite you to be part of our volunteer team at the Loma Linda Reserve. Together, we can protect and restore this beautiful ecosystem. Activities include: forest nursery work, reforestation, harvesting coffee and pacayna crops, trail maintenance, tourism, awareness programs with students from various educational levels, and more.
We coordinate different types of volunteer opportunities with public and private educational institutions at various levels, NGOs, and other organizations in the country.
